In mid-April 2026, Mr. Ngo Vi Dong, Chairman of HPT, was entrusted with the role of Chairman of the Entrepreneurs’ Book Council for the new term. For him, his initial involvement with the Council stemmed from a personal interest in books. However, taking on its top leadership role also brings considerable pressure. Mr. Ngo believes that this position requires more than a love of reading; it also calls for sufficient experience and meaningful contributions to represent a broad community. In his view, that responsibility means he must make even greater efforts and continue learning in order to meet expectations.
The Entrepreneurs’ Book Council and the mission to spread knowledge
The Entrepreneurs’ Book Council is an initiative of Saigon Entrepreneurs Associationand has been active for the past five years. It brings together respected entrepreneurs and distinguished individuals known for their intellect and business ethics. The Council was established to promote a culture of reading and writing within the enterprise community, encourage the sharing of knowledge through books and contribute to society, particularly by helping students develop professional thinking and mindset from an early stage. All of its activities are carried out on a voluntary basis, with the shared goal of disseminating knowledge and serving the community.
Mr. Ngo Vi Dong – Chairman of HPT, Chairman of the Entrepreneurs’ Book Council
In his conversation with Saigon Entrepreneurs Associationabout reading habits, Mr. Ngo Vi Dong emphasized that reading should not be seen merely as a matter of personal preference, but as an integral part of professional capability. It does not require a great deal of time, but it does call for initiative and persistence. When practiced consistently, reading becomes an effective channel for accumulating experience, enabling individuals to shorten the trial-and-error process. According to him, the core value of a good book lies not in the amount of information it provides, but in its ability to shape the way people think, make decisions and take action in practice. It helps readers better understand the issues they are facing and apply what they learn, even through small adjustments in their daily work within the enterprise.
Cultivating a reading culture at HPT
At HPT, reading has been fostered as a natural and sustainable part of corporate culture. According to Mr. Ngo Vi Dong, cultivating a reading habit within an enterprise must begin with internal initiative and be driven by influence from within. Leaders play a pioneering role by reading regularly and consistently sharing and recommending valuable titles to employees. At the same time, book-sharing and discussion activities are organized in flexible formats, while books are also selected as gifts for special occasions. Over time, these efforts have helped nurture small communities of book lovers within the company, where employees actively exchange ideas and spread knowledge among one another.
Beyond encouraging reading, HPT also places strong emphasis on capturing and preserving knowledge through internal publications. The enterprise publishes an internal book every 5 years, compiling stories, practical experience and lessons learned from work. In parallel, its internal newsletter, Hotnews, is issued quarterly, featuring content on business, technology and everyday life. All of these publications are distributed free of charge to employees, reinforcing a culture of continuous learning across the organization.
Building on this internal foundation, HPT has extended its efforts to the broader community through initiatives such as developing libraries, donating books to students and mobilizing resources to expand access to knowledge. The goal is to help younger generations engage with knowledge early on and develop a professional mindset and working style from the outset.
Over the years, HPT has earned recognition as a science and technology enterprise committed to fostering a culture of learning from within and extending knowledge outward to the community. This reflects a clear direction: when knowledge is given its rightful place, a culture of reading becomes the foundation for enterprises to make sustainable contributions to society.
