On August 6, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, in collaboration with the Vietnam Information Security Association – Southern Branch (VNISA Southern Branch), held a press conference to introduce the "2024 Southern Region Information Security Conference and Exhibition" with the theme “Securing digital infrastructure, data, and the digital economy against cybercrime”.
The conference is co-organized by the Authority of Information Security under the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, and the Vietnam Information Security Association – Southern Branch (VNISA Southern Branch), under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. It is scheduled to take place on August 23, 2024, at the GEM Center Conference Center – No. 8, Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The press conference was chaired by Mr. Vo Minh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications; Mr. Ngo Vi Đong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Information Security Association, Chairman of VNISA Southern Branch, also Chairman of the Board of Directors of HPT; and Mr. Trinh Ngoc Minh, Vice Chairman of the VNISA Southern Branch, Director of Technology Development and Director of HPT Training Center.

The Southern Region Information Security Conference and Exhibition is an important annual event that attracts significant attention from the scientific and technological community in the fields of Information Technology and Information Security. It also garners interest from leaders of agencies and businesses involved in implementing digital transformation applications, as well as from central and local government authorities in the southern provinces and cities.

In addition to the main event, the "2024 Southern Region Information Security Conference and Exhibition," there will be a series of other information security activities taking place during this conference and throughout 2024, such as:
- August 9, 2024: The VNISA Golf Tournament 2024, organized by VNISA at Tan Son Nhat Golf Course in Ho Chi Minh City, aims to strengthen connections between members both within and outside of VNISA Southern Branch through the sport of golf.
- August 22, 2024: A Leadership Conference exclusively for leaders of government agencies and selected businesses will be held at GEM Center. This annual conference complements the main event and is of particular interest to leaders from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Information and Communications Departments in the southern region, and key businesses. The conference will address the current state of information security, trends and alerts for leaders, coordination and responsibilities of leadership, and ensuring information security resources.
- September 11, 2024: The Scientific conference on information security will be organized by Center 286 – under the Command 86, in collaboration with VNISA. This conference is highly academic in nature, discussing solutions researched by agencies, businesses, universities, and academies within the country to ensure information security to meet our needs.
- October 19, 2024: The ASEAN 2024 Student Information Security Competition, organized by VNISA in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. This annual competition is a prestigious international event and has been the starting point for many skilled information security experts. Students will have the opportunity to challenge themselves and compete with international peers in information security skills and practices.
- Q4 2024: A Live Cybersecurity Drill in Ho Chi Minh City will be organized by the unit responsible for IT systems, particularly those supporting the city's digital transformation. This event is essential and requires significant effort to improve skills, identify vulnerabilities, and assess the readiness of the defense systems and the live drills.

According to Mr. Ngo Vi Đong, Chairman of the Southern Branch of VNISA and Chairman of the Board of Directors of HPT, spoke at the press conference, as operations shift to digital platforms and applications, there are significant and ever-present cybersecurity threats. In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City experienced several ransomware attacks, causing severe economic damage. Therefore, the Southern Vietnam Information Security Conference and Exhibition 2024 will focus on sharing information about information security, as well as the latest domestic and international solutions and experiences in combating cybercrime.
