On November 29, 2024, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society organized a program to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1947 – November 23, 2024). The event also included a ceremony to honor exemplary individuals and organizations under the theme "Good People, Good Deeds – Joining Hands to Build a Compassionate Community" for the 2022–2024 period.
According to the organizers, over 4,000 organizations and individuals are honored annually at the ward, commune, district, and municipal levels across the city. From these, the city-level selection council nominated 170 exemplary candidates, with 78 of the most outstanding being recognized at the event. This recognition celebrates the significant contributions and efforts of generations of Red Cross officials, members, volunteers, and youth, as well as individuals and organizations who uphold and advance the nation's humanitarian traditions. It reaffirms the pivotal role of the Red Cross in the country’s humanitarian mission, striving for the happiness of the people, especially for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in society.
