Ministry of Information and Communications warns: Beware of fake Google Authenticator apps and security risks

According to recent reports, numerous advertisements have appeared online from Google, encouraging users to download the Google Authenticator app to enhance the security of their personal devices. In reality, this is a scam created by malicious individuals, tricking victims into downloading software that contains malware.

What is Google Authenticator?

Google Authenticator is a mobile application developed by Google that provides two-factor authentication (2FA) to secure online accounts and services, such as Google accounts, social networks, banking, and more. When 2FA is enabled for an account, the app generates a random 6-digit code that is valid for 30 seconds. Each time you log in, in addition to your password, you need to enter this code to verify your identity, enhancing security and preventing unauthorized access, even if someone knows your password.
